What Makes a Hero? Birthers Back in the News!

In a Sept. 2, 2010 file photo Army Lt. Col. Terrence L. Lakin leaves the military courthouse … Time to take an old argument of the shelf and dust it off, the "Birther" debate has gotten some new ammunition and is coming out shooing. A court martial proceeding against an 18-year Army veteran who refuses to deploy to Afghanistan will begin today at Fort Meade in Maryland.

Now before I go to far into detail let me get out a few facts:

I am NOT a "Birther", but I understand it is the current law that only someone born in the United States can serve as President.
I was "Adopted" and agree with "Birthers" the The President's Birth Certificate that was released was not an original.
Because I was adopted I also understand how easy it is to do a "name change" in the same period of time The President was said to have done so.

According to The Associated Press, Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin disobeyed orders to report to a Kentucky base earlier this year because he doubts whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States and questions his eligibility to be president.

Now this is a brave man. Right or wrong you have to have incredible respect for this guy. He really believes that The President is a fraud and therefore will put his life, liberty, and career on the line to protect this country from a threat he sees as greater then any foreign country, and yet I do not remember every news station clamoring to cover every second of his trial.

Lakin served in Afghanistan, Korea, Bosnia, Germany, Honduras and El Salvador before taking up an occupational and environmental medicine residency in Maryland. In 2009, he became the chief of primary care at the Army's DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic at the Pentagon. This man is a hero and we are treating him like a piece of trash. The President should be ashamed.

If Lakin is found guilty, he faces a dishonorable discharge, several years in prison and a forfeiture of his pay, which totals nearly $8,000 a month, CNN reported.

The big controversy is over the name and birthplace of Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro.

The Facts We Know: released A "Copy" of Barack Hussein Obama Birth Certificate
The Presidents Legal name now is Barack Hussein Obama

The Facts We Don't Know:

The President attended school under variations of the names Barack Hussein Obama Barry Soetoro
The location of The Presidents birth
The Presidents original name

If Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin has good attorneys, and military lawyers usually are a lot better then public defenders, information about The President may very well be released. Unfortunately due to the secrecy under which the military conducts most of their business if anything of interest does come to light we will never see it.

I want to wish Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin good luck in court today. Our thoughts and prayers will be with him. He is a true American Hero. And if you are wondering if there are people out there still willing to stand up for what they believe in even when it is hard to do look no farther then this brave man.

An Army doctor who disobeyed orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he questioned President Barack Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief told a jury Wednesday he was wrong to do so and would now deploy if he could.

I am clearly disapointed in Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin's decision.
